Exciting news! A new and improved Parent and Caregiver Handbook for Sickle Cell is available in English and Spanish.
This comprehensive reference for parents and caregivers of children living with sickle
cell disease can help their children stay healthier and happier every day.
The California Department of Public Health, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital
Oakland and the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation revised the handbook to cover every stage from birth to 18 years old.
Families provided invaluable input, requesting detailed information on managing challenging issues, such as:
• Pain and fever
• ER visits
• When to contact a medical provider
